Art Naturals – Professional Series: Argan Oil Hair Care

7.3Overall Score

Is it possible to love argan oil infused products but not argan oil?

  • Leave-In Conditioner
  • Hair Mask
  • Argan Oil

Hate it or love it, argan oil has solidified its place in hair care. From deep conditioners to hairsprays, anything and everything is argan oil infused. No stranger to Your Beauty First, Art Naturals is a brand with products I have reviewed and loved. Located in LA, the company specialises in natural products. Filled with gratitude, I was given the opportunity to try a few products from their professional series hair care line; I received a leave-in conditioner (354.9ml), hair mask (236ml) and argan oil (120ml).

I’ll begin this review with the leave-in conditioner. The scent is incredibly strong but I love it! It smells like an expensive perfume, lingering in the air as well as your hair. I can’t stress how strong this scent is. Marketed as a leave-in conditioner for “all hair types”, I can only agree with Art Naturals as I have used it on my natural hair and on my wigs. My wigs were left feeling soft and smelling amazing; my natural curls, a similar yet better experience.

Applying the leave-in conditioner to my wet curls, I was simply trying to moisturise my hair. However, I instantly noticed how defined my curls appeared so I decided to use the product to style. To my surprise, even when dry, the curls remained, with little to no frizz! I am genuinely stunned, as only gel-based products tend to define my curls. As someone who isn’t fond of hair gels, this is revolutionary as it means I no longer need to buy the gunk! I will be sharing my results via Instagram so watch out for it.

Moving on to the hair mask, I am incredibly surprised by how much I like it, as my hair tends to loathe anything with keratin in it. In regards to the scent, it is the same as the leave-in conditioner. I used it traditionally (as a hair mask) as well as to detangle and I feel it works best as a pre-shampoo treatment. It melted away my tangles and left my hair feeling soft. Packaged in a tiny jar, I was expecting to use this once. After using it for the first time, I was left with about 60% of the product. I’m not too surprised as this hair mask has incredible slip; a little goes a long way.

Lastly, the key ingredient, argan oil! To abruptly summarise, I am not impressed or sold. However, Art Naturals’ choice of packaging is brilliant as it is a bottle with a dropper lid. I am an oil aficionado and this is a rare find. Most companies would opt for a spray nozzle or a simple screw cap. Oil droppers allow you to measure accurately, saving you oil as well as money. My first time trying the infamous argan oil, I was stunned by its consistency; it is rather light. However, a little goes a very long way! I attempted to seal my hair using this oil and I ended up coated in it.

Nevertheless, every cloud has a silver lining as this led me to discover, argan oil does wonders for my skin; I was left glowing. As much as I liked the glow, my skin is naturally oily so I won’t be using this regularly. Surprisingly, it didn’t do anything for my hair or scalp. Overall, I’m unimpressed and I would not go out of my way to purchase argan oil. In regards to Art Naturals’ leave-in conditioner and hair mask, I love it!
