I hate writing negative reviews. However, many have come to rely on reviews and if I can save someone time as well as money, delivering such negativity is worthwhile. Although I tend to love tea tree oil infused soaps, shower gels, etc., I was left a little disappointed with The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Skin Clearing Body Wash (£7.50, 250ml). For a good tea tree oil infused body wash, £7.50 for 250ml is a reasonable price. In regards to The Body Shop’s, it is definitely not worth it! Tea tree oil infused body washes are a staple so I know what to expect. Although I believe there is some tea tree oil in The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Skin Clearing Body Wash, I also believe it is an insignificant unsatisfactory amount.
The clue is in the potency. Genuine or high quality tea tree oil infused body washes leave my skin feeling fresh and tingling. I didn’t get any sensation from The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Skin Clearing Body Wash but it did clear up a light rash. This suggests there is a little but not enough tea tree oil, as it didn’t shift other skin issues I usually use tea tree oil for. In addition, I was not too fond of the consistency as it is watery. It also doesn’t foam much; according to The Body Shop’s website, it is a “soap-free” body wash. Annoyingly, this is not highlighted on the label/bottle.
Lastly, the scent is horrible! It is not fresh at all. I purchased and used two bottles; the scent is strange, nothing in line with other tea tree oil body washes I have used in the past. Overall, I am not impressed. The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Skin Clearing Body Wash is nowhere near as effective as competitors’. I am very disappointed as I am a huge fan of The Body Shop. If you are looking for a powerful antiseptic tea tree oil infused body wash, look elsewhere!
