What does a rainforest smell like? If it is anything like this conditioner by The Body Shop, I have no intentions of ever visiting one! This is a review of a product that is absolutely magnificent but smells vile! The scent is wet grass meets wellington boots, a bizarre description but once you smell it, you will understand. Worst of all, it lingers and is best used to detangle (post wash) or as a pre-shampoo treatment. To mask the faint yet lethal scent this conditioner left (when used traditionally), I had to drench my hair with my leave-in conditioner and sweet almond oil. However, I would still consider this an adequate purchase.
Scent aside, this has to be the most extraordinary hair care purchase I have ever made. A conditioner (£2.00, 250ml), created by The Body Shop does what it promises to do, on kinky curly afro hair! Yes, the silicone free, moisturising claim is spot on! This product would be flawless if it didn’t smell so bad. I used it traditionally, as a pre-shampoo treatment as well as to detangle my hair. The slip is incredible, making detangling ever so easy. With every use, my hair was left moisturised and incredibly silky to touch. My curls were also extremely defined. This is a brilliant conditioner but the scent is a great let down. If you love the smell of wet grass, I highly recommend it. If you don’t, avoid this brilliant but smelly conditioner.
