I doubt I will ever love Shea Moisture but I must admit, I’m beginning to like the brand. Reflecting the expression, “third time lucky”, I have now tried three Shea Moisture products (all of different lines) and the third purchase is the first to impress. Shea Moisture’s SuperFruit Complex hair masque is quite good. My first experience involved following Shea Moisture’s instructions. The product lacked slip and simply sat on my hair, making detangling quite difficult. After washing the hair masque out, I found my hair felt soft but not moisturised.
Feeling a little disappointed with the results, I decided to use the hair masque as a pre-shampoo treatment. To my surprise, it worked a lot better. Shea Moisture needs to rebrand this hair masque, as it is a brilliant pre-shampoo treatment! Detangling seems to be more effective if you start with dry hair. I did not need a comb as the hair masque glided effortlessly through my hair. Washing it out after 20 minutes, I instantly noticed how defined my curls were, my hair also felt lighter than usually.
A multitude of positive reviews led me to purchase this hair masque. I am relatively pleased with the product but it’s definitely not worth the £11.99 I paid for it. Lastly, an intransigent issue, I found the scent rather unpleasant. It is bearable but I personally don’t like it. If you can find this hair masque on sale, definitely try it but at its average British retail price, I can’t recommend it.
