Call the press! There appears to be a Shea Moisture product I can rave about as well as recommend. If my review were based on using the product once, this would be the gist of my post. However, my review is based on long-term use and the love is not mutual. I loved Shea Moisture’s Mango & Carrot Kids Extra-Nourishing Conditioner but it hates my hair; prepare your self for the most bizarre beauty product review ever documented.
Part of a line for children, I considered this purchase to be a safe investment, at £7.80 (quite expensive too). As someone who usually uses a lot of conditioner, I found myself not needing much, which is great as the bottle is ridiculously tiny (236ml). The conditioner’s consistency reminds me of The Body Shop’s body lotion. Providing a great amount of slip, this conditioner made detangling stress free and left my hair incredibly soft. So, what is the issue?
Firstly, the scent is very similar to Shea Moisture’s SuperFruit Complex line, which I was not too fond of. However, this is no major concern. My issue was shedding. Yes, this conditioner made my hair shed. At first I assumed it was a coincidence so I switched to another conditioner; the shedding stopped. As I returned to it, my hair began to shed once again. Each time I applied Shea Moisture’s Mango & Carrot Kids conditioner, I saw no shedding but as soon as I washed it out, little clumps of my curls began to drop out. It was as if someone was trimming my hair.
Although I have been left horrified by my experience, I feel this conditioner is really good, in regards to how it left my hair feeling. I might be allergic to one of the ingredients so I can’t really tell you to avoid it. I will not be using it again (I have up to half a bottle left) but feel free to purchase it.
