Dear Shea Moisture, why must you leave me disappointed? I’m trying so hard to get to know and love you. Help me out please! This is my second Shea Moisture purchase (from a different line) and once again, I’m unimpressed. I was left incredibly disappointed with Shea Moisture’s iconic leave-in conditioner but now I feel rather deflated. A product made with coconut oil, silk protein and neem oil should do wonders but Shea Moisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus Frizz-Free Curl Mousse does not. To begin on a positive note, this curl mousse smells lovely but does it work? Yes and no.
If you desire frizz-free, defined curls, you will be left disappointed as this curl mousse has little hold. As a product to accompany another, for a twist out or general natural hair styling, I highly recommend (as long as you are not venturing out into humid conditions). What I love the most about Shea Moisture’s curl mousse is its ability to leave your hair soft and not crunchy. However, it does leave your curls a little dry. So far, I have used this curl mousse for a dry Wash & Go as well as a flat twist out. The results varied each time but I did see a little reduction in frizz.
Unfortunately, you will find yourself using a lot of the product at once, due to its formula as well as hold. I purchased Shea Moisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus Frizz-Free Curl Mousse via Amazon at £11.30 so this is not economically friendly, especially for those living in the UK where Shea Moisture products require an arm, a leg and your first-born. To summarise, for a product so expensive, it’s pretty average and not something I can recommend. I have not lost faith in the brand as of yet; I hope to try one more Shea Moisture product before I write them off.
