I feel incredibly fortunate as Your Beauty First has opened so many doors and created just as many opportunities. Dr Botanicals is a London based, vegan friendly skincare brand committed to creating natural vegan products that produce tangible results. The company believes in a more humane and caring world. The brand also hopes to highlight the power of botanical and natural active ingredients. I was given the opportunity to review Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream, a beautifully designed 50ml tube, packaged in a sleek brown box. Marketed as a lightweight duo moisturiser, Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream is formulated to protect and repair the skin. An exotic concoction, the active main ingredients are:
– Elderflower protects the skin from free radical damage
– Chamomile Flower Extract heals as well as soothes irritated and damaged skin
– Tiare Flower Extract deeply moisturises, nourishing as well as purifying the skin
I used Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream everyday, for a week and I am quite impressed as well as disappointed. Yes, this product left me feeling conflicted. Let’s begin with the good! Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream smells lovely; the scent is somewhat tropical. It is also pretty strong. The cream is thick but it absorbs effortlessly, leaving your face matte and radiant. As someone with oily skin, I loved the finish. Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream obliterated my oily skin woes. However, this is not what my skin needed (especially in winter) and for the first time in my life, I experienced dry skin.
Continuing with the bad and the ugly, Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream is a little too drying. It is best kept for summer use. It also left my skin feeling tingly and numb. I can’t describe the weird sensation; it is not a bad tingle but it is annoying. Lastly, it caused me to break out and I never break out! I have only ever had six spots in my whole life. By the end of the week, I had several tiny spots all over my face. Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream is perfect for oily skin but I can’t afford to use it again. I will happily take oily clear skin over matte spotty skin. I might be allergic to an ingredient so don’t let my experience discourage you.
This is a review of Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream as I received it for free, but I would also like to cover the retail price. Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream retails at £39.90, which is very expensive for 50ml. However, it is an effective product so many will have no problem with spending £39.90. Unfortunately, I can’t justify the retail price, as Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream is not for me. Nonetheless, I am always open to spending a lot on the products I love. Overall, I appreciate and respect Dr Botanicals’ ethics but I love as well as hate Dr Botanicals Tropical Invigorating Cream!
Note: I have received the reviewed product(s) in exchange for an honest review or to simply try for free. For more information, please see Your Beauty First’s Terms and Conditions.
