Similar to my experience, I’m sure many were left baffled by Dark and Lovely’s “sheen sealing nectar”. What is it? What does it do? According to Dark and Lovely it is a “recipe for all day shiny, elongated curls and coils”. In Laymen’s terms, it’s an oil solution and its purpose is to provide shine to your hair. I don’t believe this product has any nourishing or repairing properties but I love it! Marketing jargon aside, it’s a beautifully scented oil. Dear Dark and Lovely, I recommend a rebrand!
I am a huge fan of the Au Naturale Anti-Shrinkage line’s scent. I first used this product on my wrist as a perfume oil. Pleased with its longevity, I now consider it as a necessity during long term protective styles such as box braids. Although this product made no visible difference to my hair, I would most definitely recommend it for those who wear their hair in protective styles for long periods. This “sheen sealing nectar” will aid in refreshing your hairstyle. I purchased it from Superdrug (170ml, £6.99). It is quite expensive but as a little goes a long way, it’s most definitely worth it.
