I strongly believe the best of what this world has to offer can be found in plain sight, in our environment, in nature. I love castor oil. I also adore shea butter, sweet almond oil and monoi oil. I rarely venture beyond my preferences but I have also tried and liked coconut oil as well as avocado oil. Although a popular choice, I’ve never felt compelled to try argan oil. Deciding against its raw form as of yet (a decision completely out of character), I decided to purchase Creme of Nature’s Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioner (250ml, £4.00, from Amazon). Used solely as a leave-in conditioner, I would consider this purchase a great disappointment.
As I am not one to give up on a product, I decided to use it to detangle my curls and coils. Armed with the proof on my head, I wholeheartedly urge Creme of Nature to rebrand this product. It is one of the best products I have ever used to detangle. I have been using it after I take down long-term protective styles e.g. Senegalese twists, box braids, etc. This is when curly hair is most vulnerable and requires extra care in order to retain length gained. As soon as my dry hair came in contact with this leave-in conditioner, single strand knots melted, my hair felt super soft, which made prepping for shampooing stress free.
However, as a leave-in conditioner, this product provided nothing. No slip or moisture. The consistency is rather watery; it is a cloudy liquid. A spray bottle makes application easy. As a fan of musky fragrances, I love the scent! As it’s musky and quite strong, it’s a scent similar to the taste of Marmite; you’ll either hate it or love it. I would strongly recommend this product, if you are looking to make detangling your hair stress free as well as fast. If you are hoping to use it as a leave-in conditioner, I urge you to look elsewhere!
